In 2008, the Register celebrated the 60th Anniversary of the announcement of the Morris~Commercial J-type at the Commercial Motor Show at Earl’s Court in 1948. The Rally was held at Wythall Transport Museum, on the outskirts of Birmingham, UK.

29 vans turned up for it, plus a selection of other classic vehicles owned by Register members or friends.

Two impromptu road runs were organised. The Saturday run saw 12 vans set of for Earlswood Lakes, a nearby attraction. Sunday saw a fantastic convoy of 16 vans (including one on a trailer, but 15 under their own steam is still amazing) set out for a run along a local dual-carriageway. It was wonderful to have been part of it all.

2013 will be the next ‘excuse’ for a big get-together, the 65th Anniversary. Who wants to wait ’til the 70th, none of us are getting younger…
