Stores van
The 10-cwt Stores Carrying Vehicle (Closed), Type 1 (Morris) was introduced ‘to improve the economic efficiency of centralised stores delivery pools’.
More or less a combination of both Postal and Utility, the cab was fitted out in line with the Utility, sharing fittings such as the engine cover-mounted folding writing table, passenger seat with battery beneath and padlocked tool compartment adjacent. It was also fitted with a mesh screen between cab and load area, but differed from a Utility in not having any requirement for a second-level floor. Photographs of one example show it to be kitted out with mesh rear window guards, as per Postal vans.
Racking was not specified, but could be fitted if necessary. It was recommended that Minor van fittings were used where suitable.
Fixing holes for a standard pin-type towing clevis were provided in the reinforced rear bumper mounting bar. It was specified that the clevis would only be supplied if the request was authorised by the Area Engineer, and could only be used to tow trailer tool-carts.
