Keeping a ‘J’ On The Road

As it is over 40 years since production of the ‘J’ type ceased, it is generally necessary to search at autojumbles and/or use the services of specialist obsolete parts suppliers for many components. Some parts are common to other BMC vehicles, whilst others may be similar enough to allow use with minor modifications.

Most mechanical and electrical parts can either be replaced or reconditioned.  Engine components for the OHV engine are generally available, either as new/old stock, or as alternatives from other vehicles. Owners of the earlier SV engine have a slightly harder time although most items can still be sourced.
