Welcome

to the website of the J, JB & 101 Register

Our Register caters for owners and enthusiasts of just one vehicle- the Morris-Commercial 'J' type, and its later variants - the Morris JB and the Austin 101. We publish three newsletters per year full of 'J' type stuff, and pride ourselves on the quality that we have achieved over the years, confident in our belief that our members are well served as far as news and other information is concerned. We also do our best to help members find spares for their vans and answer postal and telephone enquiries regarding membership, insurance valuations, details required for the retention of original registrations or acquisition of age-related number plates, + the many enquiries that we have from owners needing help in proving the age of their vehicle - in order that the benefit of Road Tax-exemption is gained.

It is the 60th anniversary of the Morris~Commercial 10cwt J-type van this year. The J, J/B and 101 Register is celebrating with a big get-together which will be at Wythall Bus Museum on the outskirts of Birmingham, where we are hoping to get together a display of in excess of 60 J-types, as well as a lineup of other vehicles built by Morris~Commercial.

It will be held on the weekend of the 14th/15th June '08 and the Museum will be open to all enthusiasts, and subject to normal Museum charges (£3 for adults, £1.50 children)

Amongst the vans attending we should have:

1: The oldest survivor, coming over from Ireland
2: The only known van still carrying its ORIGINAL livery (ie, the van hasn't been restored - the lettering is that which was applied when new)
3: One coming over from Sweden, all being well!
4: A van that has been with its current owner for nigh on 44 years, the van being only six years old when purchased.

And many, many more...

We are hoping to have a number of classic J-type  ice cream vans, actually selling award-winning traditional ices over the weekend, as well as a variety of Morris~Commercial and J-type related displays.
