The first
chapter, "A Brief History", gives background details regarding the J-type,
which was announced in 1948. One chapter in the book tries to give a feel of
how different was the world into which it was introduced. Another gives a
definitive and fully illustrated account of all scale models of the van that
have been made down the years. Yet another describes the trials and
tribulations experienced in the saving and restoration of a J-type in
Zimbabwe, of all places, during the troubled 1980s! Wonder what it was like
to use one of these wonderful little vans in the ‘60s? A chapter details one
man’s experiences as a postman driver, including actually learning to drive
in a J-type! Ever dreamt what a custom car enthusiast might achieve with
one? It’s in here. All shades of the ‘passion for all things J-type’ have
been covered.
