This van, owned by Tony Clipstone is the oldest survivor. It has the export specification steel floor and all the indicators of an early van, spiral-bevel rear axle, early-type shock absorbers, rectangular sidelights, etc.

Well done Tony, for getting it back into this great condition!

Tony “Greengrass” Clipstone was life itself. He was a pharmacist in South Australia’s Adelaide Hills & Hahndorf areas . He found J/R 649 by accident. He intended to buy the Old Middleton Grainstore van but inadvertently was sold what was discovered to be the oldest remaining J. Under Tony’s care it was kept near original. Fittingly his last ride was witnessed by hundreds of his friends and wellwishers as J/R 649 took him for a 25 Km tour of his old haunts.
