Most J-type Register members will have known for a year or so that the venue, Wythall Transport Museum, is the same as was used for the 50th and 60th Rallies and that the dates are 15th and 16th June, which includes Father’s Day.
This email is to announce finalised artwork for the Rally posters and leaflets. We need to publicise this rally as much as possible. We will be sending images and information out to the Classic press.
All owners and enthusiasts are invited. If you are an owner, please try to bring along your vehicle – we would love this to be the biggest and best UK display of J vans ever. The Register managed to attract 29 club vehicles to the 50th, and 29 again ( but many not the same as the previous ones) for the 60th. Let’s see if we can get the total into the thirties, with so many vans having been restored recently.
The Museum will have all manner of additional attractions, including classic bus rides into Birmingham and around the surrounding countryside. It might be possible to arrange a classic bus ride to the (scant) remains of the factory, as we did for the 50th.Please let me know if this is of interest.
The Museum’s full address is Chapel Lane Wythall Worcs B47 6JX. If driving, it is best approached from junction 3 of the M42 motorway. Head towards Birmingham as far as the large roundabout at Beckett’s Farm, turn left and then left again for the Museum entrance. If in a club vehicle you will be guided into the club display area, if in an everyday modern vehicle you will be directed to parking areas.
To coincide with this announcement there is a new page on the J-Register website: http://www.jtypevan.com/newsevents/65th-anniversary-rally-wythall/ where comments from members and enthusiasts re the rally will be placed and regularly updated. If you would like to add a comment please send a message via the ‘Contact Us’ button or via this email address.

There will be the largest assembly of road going Morris J type vans in Australia for many years at the CARnivale Car display to be held on Macquarie street Sydney on January 26, 2013. The vans will be beside the Hyde Park Barracks facing Hyde Park. All welcome & make yourselves known.
Also of interest was a visit to Novgorod, syd’sKnee last weekend by JB 43247’s custodians, Andrew Trollope and Susan Hunt. Mr Cholmondeley’s minder was having a working bee and Andrew was pleased to see JB 43570 arrive for a show & tell then Kelly Ashton arrived with his took kit and multimeter. After spending a very hot afternoon at Novgorod J HQ he went off to Dee Why with Kelly to see the V8 J and the restoration J which is Kelly’s reason d’etre at the moment. On the Sunday Andrew & Susan revisited Novgorod for a nibble and a “tour of the Syd’sKnee sights”. First was a look see at one of the winning Appliances vans then on to Watsons Bay, via Bondi beach, to see the Doyles van.
A pleasant time was had by all.
Also of note is that Andrew & Susan have their tickets for the journey to Birmingham for the 65th.
By contrast we include a photo sent by Roland Turner of his van, which he has been using to get to and from work, in the snow. And just when we thought it was thawing, it’s started snowing again!
A quick blog entry to wish all J enthusiasts worldwide a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and to let members know that a Christmas issue of the Review is in the post! We will be sending a few more copies out in the New Year to non-member J-owners, with an invitation to attend the 65th Anniversary Rally at Wythall Transport Museum, Birmingham.
Soon after being mentioned in Street Machine magazine in Australia, Laurie Bellette has been awarded ‘Car of the Year’ for his Morris V8 J by the arbiters of taste on Sydney’s northern beaches The Northern Beaches Hot Rod Club. The northern beaches of Syd’sKnee are very sunny, sandy and serious OZ Cool. Location to some hallmark Australian television series the car culture on the peninsular is extreme. When the club votes for their Car of the Year it has had to turn heads! Well done Laurie. Another tick of approval for the mightiest of J’s!
There was a HISTORIC COMMERCIAL VEHICLE SHOW here in Melbourne Australia 18.11.12 (An annual event)
We managed to get 7 Vans to the show – not a bad effort ( 2 on trailers and 5 roadworthy and driven).

Our congratulations to the members of the Morris~Commercial Club, whose stand in Hall 11 at the Classic Motor Show has scooped the “Best Small Club Stand” award at Friday night’s ceremony. This is a particularly great achievement given that it is the club’s first time at the show. Well done, guys!
The Classic Motor Show opens its doors at the NEC tomorrow morning at 10am. We’ve spent the afternoon in the company of Morris~Commercial members, setting up our adjacent stands. If you’re planning a visit, we’re in Hall 11, Stand 11C63.
